JEANNETTE LOAKMAN
Jeannette
has over 12 years of experience in broadcasting and journalism
– in front of the camera as well as behind it.
She
recently produced Cat Ladies. The
film premiered at Hot Docs 2009, played at Silverdocs,
San Francisco Doc Fest, Pixar University, Stratford Docfest, Wndsor
International Film Festival and recently was on TVO, ABC 20/20 and
WEtv. Cat Ladies doubled the
ratings for TVO.
Jeannette's currently producing Peep Me, and going into development
on a new solo project - Chubby Chaser.
Jeannette wrote and produced Annie Ong: Lost and
Found,
the sequel to her award winning first film The Last
Seven Days of Annie Ong. Jeannette also wrote and
directed Slippery Blisses (NFB, Discovery
Health U.S.) that was invited to the Montreal World Film Festival.
Jeannette has spent time on the other side of the
commissioning table too as a
Programming Associate at Vision TV where she steered a host of
documentaries from development to broadcast.
She’s
worked as a Reporter at CITY-TV and host at WTN where she interviewed
big stars and ordinary people, delved into murder scenes and food
drives, explained union disputes using bits of stationery, made
predictions for a technology show and profiled a photographer in Soweto.
Before
television Jeannette had a successful career in the IT industry working
as a consultant in Montreal, Brussels, London and Tokyo.
