DAVID MANNING

David is a very tall, Toronto-based filmmaker. He got his start in the entertainment business by doing stand-up comedy while at university in Montreal, Canada. After several years of touring comedy clubs, pool halls and church basements David made the jump into an exciting career as a television editor, where he continued to work late at night in poorly lit rooms.

David made his directorial debut in 2001 with the short film Rakes - a slapstick documentary parody. David's Grandmother enjoyed Rakes very much. She watched the film twice and even showed it to some of her friends. Rakes was also invited to screen at Raindance, Hot Docs, Just for Laughs, the Canadian Comedy Awards, the New York Comedy Film Festival, and the Vancouver International Comedy Festival. It has toured 30 US cities as a part of the comedic revue Burly on Tour and been televised in Canada by CBC and the Independent Film Channel.

David's other films Clowns at War, A Decorating Story and Pigeons have screened around the world. David has also edited numerous award-winning television shows including Design Inc, Neat, Room Service, Savoir Faire, Linehan, and The Second City 25th Anniversary.

Spam: The Documentary will be David's first feature length documentary. Watch for it in spring 2006.
